ANTIPOLO CITY, Rizal- The Pilgrimage Season or popularly known as "Ahunan Sa Antipolo"officially concluded with a novena in honor of the Patroness, followed by a holy mass presided by Rev. Fr. Reynante U. Tolentino, Shrine Rector and Parish Administrator of the International Shrine of the Our Lady of Peace and Good Voyage, last week. The concluding rites was and a holy procession.
In his homily, Rev. Fr. Reynante U. Tolentino compared the Cathedral’s dome with the womb of the Blessed Virgin Mary where Jesus was conceived that makes Him present in the Cathedral. He said that this is the reason for maintaining its sacredness and continuing to spread the love of God and the Virgin Mary:
“Si Maria ang unang tabernakulo ni Kristo, siya ang unang dambana ng ating Panginoong Hesus. Sa kanya nanahan si Hesus na sinasabi nating nananahan at nakatira sa ating dambana,” Fr. Tolentino said.
He adds:
“Sama-sama tayong maglingkod sa ating Panginoong Hesukristo sa bawat deboto at pilgrims, katulad ni Maria, ang ating Ina, ang Ina ng mga Pilipino,”
Certificates were also awarded to the diocesan shrines who participated in the ending of the pilgrimage season 2023. After the mass, a procession was held with the image of our Lady of Peace and Good Voyage together with the other patrons from the diocesean shrines of the Diocese of Antipolo such as St. Joseph, spouse of Mary, patron of the Universal Church; St. Clement of Angono, Rizal; St. Paul of the Cross of Marikina; St. Joseph of Baraz, Rizal; Our Lady of Light of Cainta, Rizal; St. Mary Magdalene of Pililla, Rizal; Our Lady of the Holy Rosary of Cardona, Rizal; St. Therese of the Child Jesus of Antipolo; Our Lady of the Abandoned of Marikina; Our Lady of Aranzazu of San Mateo, Rizal.
The celebration ended with Fr. Tolentino who gave his gratitude to all those who helped during the pilgrimage season and through a prayer to the Our Lady of Peace and Good Voyage.
