Today marks the beginning of Advent. The readings today invite us to prepare for the coming of the Son of Man. It is also an invitation to look within ourselves—are we ready?
The first week of Advent is also an opportunity for everyone to reflect on what they have done well and what they have not done well. Are we ready to welcome the Son of Man? Or are we too busy to accept His coming?
Today's gospel also reminds us that we must always be prepared for what is to come, because we never know when the Son of Man will come. There's a quote that says, "Luck is what happens when preparation meets opportunity." But, unlike in this quote, His coming is not a matter of chance but of hope for salvation.
As we enter this season, let us take this opportunity to prepare, for the best is yet to come.
Amen.
