Reflection:
Our Gospel tells us today that at the end of our lives, we will be judged. We have the choice which way we want to go. Is it the place where the rich man ends or where Lazarus is? Lazarus was the poor man who suffered throughout his life while the unknown rich man feasted daily without care for others. In the end, Lazarus got the comfort in eternal life. The rich man in turn, suffered. The problem here is the indifference of the rich man. He enjoyed and did nothing when he can help others. This is the sacrifice we must make in order to obtain eternal life – we must do what can to alleviate the suffering of others. God does not ask us to give what we cannot but in reality, God asks of us what He already gave us. It is our decision if we desire to give also to others. Because we have received, we could also give. Whatever we give to others will be our gateway to heaven.
Amen. +
