Blessed Sunday!
We are on the fourth Sunday of Lent. In today's gospel, Jesus heals a blind man—a miracle that Jesus performed left the Pharisees even more blind to reality. The blind man was healed because of his faith. His faith leads him to God.
How does faith lead us closer to Jesus? It is with what we have in our hearts. In reality, the heart that speaks much of itself is blind, drowning in the sea of power, fame, money, and other worldly matters that continuously feed their egos. But a heart that speaks no ill nor guilt towards his man has the eyes of faith.
Faith leads us to God in preparation for His coming. Today is Laetare Sunday. You will notice the altar of the churches with flowers, priests wears pink chasuble. It is a bit of a breather for us, Catholics, to have some joy in the midst of the preparation for the coming of our Lord.
It is a reminder that all of our preparations—Visita Iglesia/Pilgrimage, Pabasa, Fasting, Almsgiving, Abstinence, and other sacrifices—would soon bear fruit, and that is the salvation that comes from our God, the light that illumines hope to see and witness the goodness of Him.
There's a popular saying that goes: "To see is to believe, but for us, children of God, to believe is to see."
