Today, we celebrate the nativity of our Lord Jesus Christ. John was the first to testify in today's gospel that Jesus was on his way to us. He is the light that darkness cannot overcome.
Jesus is the light, and His coming means He is here to save us. He is the truth that not everyone will welcome, a gift that not everyone will accept, for they are the ones who are full of themselves. Nowadays, people are treated according to their social status, fame, money, and power. Those who did not have these were left behind, waiting for the crumbs that fell from the table of some self-centered people.
But Jesus is different. Given His power, He did not choose a few, but He opted to be with everyone, regardless of their social status. He dwells among us, and those who believe in Him are privileged to receive His abundance. His coming is a reminder that no one, not even those who have everything in this world, will overpower Him, for He is the gift that not everyone can accept because of the truth that He brings.
Today, we are reminded that the greatest gift cannot be found in any material things, but in the simplicity of how Jesus was born here on earth, in a manger. We must live glorifying the Lord, for all that we have and receive comes from Him. He is the gift that lasts forever.
Let us pause and reflect: "What are the gifts that you received and are grateful for? Are you willing to accept the truth that Jesus Christ is the greatest gift that mankind can receive?"
