Couples for Christ OLA Chapter

History

  • Established in June 1981, is a Catholic movement intended for the renewal and strengthening of Christian values
  • Was approved by the CBCP as a national private association of lay faithful in  1996
  • Was recognized  by the Vatican as a private international association of the lay faithful of pontifical right in 2000
  • Since 1993, CFC has started other family ministries, including Kids for Christ, Youth for Christ, Singles for Christ, Handmaids of the Lord,  Servants of the Lord

CFC wants to rise in defence of the family, which is God’s work

CFC wants to bring God’s strengths and light to those who are struggling to be truly Christian families in the modern world 


Global Goals:

  1. Evangelization and Formation (to evangelize people and inculcate a way of life based on Gospel values)
  2. Family Renewal (to strengthen and defend the family as a basic unit of society and of the Church) 
  3. Total Christian Liberation (to help the least of our brethren)
  4. Effective / Efficient Governance  (to provide support services to fulfil the vision and mission)

OLA Marriage Encounter Community

History

The Our Lady of the Abandoned Marriage Encounter Community is a Parish-based community guided by the conviction that a married couple should have a strong and God-fearing family. 

*Marriage Encounter is a program and movement that encourages couples to live in God’s presence. 

This is achieved through Evangelization and Christian values education. 

It was founded on September 28, 2003 and since then has already a membership of more than 200 couples (400+ individuals in OLA. 


Vision

God-centered couples mutually enhancing marital relationships and nurturing families through evangelization and fostering Christian values.


Mission 

  1. To instill in couples the value of a Christian marriage through the sharing of life by renewed couples and values formation.
  2. To help couples live their married life in accordance with the Word of God.
  3. To encourage couples to raise and nurture a God-centered family.

Regular and Special Activities

  • M.E. Weekend Seminar (Friday, Saturday, and Sunday) twice a year
  • Life in the Spirit Seminar – Twice a year for MEW Seminar graduates
  • Growth in the Spirit Seminar – Twice a year for MEW Seminar graduates
  • Retreat for Class/Batch Shepherds – Once a Year
  • Recollection during Yuletide and Lenten seasons
  • Marriage Enrichment Retreat
  • Youth LSS
  • Pre Cana Seminar
  • Bibliarasal (Biblia, Aral, Dasal) every week for each batch (ME 1 to 29)
  • Prayer Meeting every Friday of each month
  • First Friday – Holy Mass
  • Second Friday – Talk on assigned topic
  • Third Friday – Praise and Worship and/or Couple Testimony
  • Fourth Friday – Holy Hour
  • Fifth Friday (if there is) – Talk on assigned topic
  • Family Day – every December
  • Sports Fest – every September
  • Kasalang Parokya (Mass Wedding)
