Merry Christmas!
Today, we commemorate the Feast of Epiphany. This also marks the end of a long season of Christmas celebration in our country. In our gospel today, the three wise men pay respect to the Infant Jesus. Guided by the star, they progress from the east to Jerusalem. Along with them are the gifts: gold, frankincense, and myrrh.
The word "epiphany" comes from the Greek word "epiphanea," which means manifestation. Jesus' human appearance represents His presence among us as well as the fact that He is our Divine Saviour. The tenacity of the three wise men represents our longing for salvation.
We always pray for guidance; we even dare to ask what our life's purpose is. When we manifest our desire to see Jesus, we can definitely say that we are on the right path to salvation. But how will we know if these signs are directing us to Jesus?
There are many signs that we believe would bring us relief, wealth, and refuge, but there is only one true sign that could lead us to Jesus, and that is our manifestation to desire Him in our lives. That Jesus alone is sufficient. Allow ourselves to want Jesus; allow our hearts to be drawn to Him, and all of our worries will be solved.
Amen.
